Hotels vs. Apartments? How to Find the Best Queenstown Accommodation

When visiting Queenstown for the first time, you have many different options available when it comes to accommodation. With many different resorts, hotels and self-contained apartments, it can be tough knowing which to use for your trip to the adventure capital of the world. For the sake of the argument, we’re going to be focusing on whether a hotel or an apartment is better suited for your Queenstown adventure.

Hotels

Just like any other top destination around the world, Queenstown is home to many different hotels and resorts, giving you plenty of different choices as for where to stay. With most located within 10 minutes of the city centre, there is no issue when it comes to getting around. Of course, just like most accommodation choices, there is a large variety of different hotels available, all with their own prices. So whether you’re looking for something cheap and functional, or if you want to really enjoy a luxurious experience, there is something for you.

Now depending on what you’re in Queenstown for, using a hotel might be your best bet. If you’re looking to do day trips around the local area and see the sights, by all means a hotel room would work brilliantly. There are obviously check in limits and unless you’re willing to really shell out, the hotel room could be quite small, making it a little bit harder to store snow or hiking gear.

 Self-Serviced Apartments

On the other hand, you can pay roughly the same amount of less, for a much larger self-serviced apartment, which offers more freedom than hotel rooms. The privacy offered with these units is simply unparalleled, allowing you to enjoy your vacation with the same level of comfort as if you were in your own home. They also resemble more of a studio apartment than a hotel room, giving you plenty of potential for use.

Many apartment complexes also offer communal facilities that rival that of even the best hotels, including spas, gyms and outdoor areas. No matter what season you visit Queenstown in, you’ll be able to enjoy the incredible mountain views from your apartment or outside. While there are usually no internal restaurants or cafes at these complexes, it leaves you with an opportunity to try out local restaurants and eateries, to truly get a feel for the local area.
